HMRC LogoWe understand calling HMRC can sometimes be a trying experience, so we’ve provided a phone number for you that directly connects you to the HMRC line with none of the fuss. Let’s face it, we all hate dealing with the tax man but there are times when we have to bite the bullet and look up the dreaded telephone number.

An Easy Experience

Finding an HMRC contact number though can be harder than you think. It is a big organisation and you need to make sure you find the right department to deal with your query. If you’re an individual then the HMRC is the place you need to go to sort out your income tax and National Insurance. Inheritance tax and capital gains tax fall under their remit too. But you’ll also deal with them for refunds, tax credits and child benefit, so it’s not all bad news.

HMRCIf you’re self employed you’ll no doubt need an HMRC contact number to sort out your self-assessment at the end of the tax year and another one if you’re making enough money to pay VAT. If you employ other people in your business you will of course need to deal with the Revenue for matters relating to PAYE and employer’s National Insurance contributions. From the start of the 2013/14 tax year PAYE rules change to require real-time reporting so you’ll need to make sure you’re geared up to cope with the new system.

Looking after your business

Bigger businesses will need a telephone number for HMRC when it comes to coping with queries about their corporation tax, VAT and capital allowances. If you’re importing or exporting you’ll need contact telephone numbers to help you deal with tariffs and restrictions. Pension schemes fall under its remit too and with the new compulsory enrolment rules there are likely to be more queries on this than ever.

HMRC, tax, moneyWith the HMRC as with any big government department you can now deal with many things – including completing your tax return – via the Internet. But although using the Net is convenient, sometimes there’s no substitute for talking to a real person in order to resolve your query and for that reason the HMRC phone number is one you need to keep close at hand.

Connecting you quicker

Contacting the tax man is something that we may dread but putting off dia ling the HMRC phone number only delays the inevitable. At the end of the day they’re there to help and you never know, you could be in for a refund.

Other ways to get in contact with HMRC

The UK Government are fast embracing the variety of different methods for the public to get in touch with them. However, the planned move towards online support portals has been somewhat slow compared to initial plans. Their e-mail contact us page remains their main source of electronic communication and can be found here, and aside from that they only really offer postal correspondence at the moment. You can reach them by traditional mail at the following address:

HM Revenue & Customs
PO Box 4000
Cardiff
CF14 8HR
However, although they do offer different methods to get in touch with them, the HMRC phone number remains the quickest way to have a problem dealt with.
