The Child Maintenance Service (CMS) is renowned as one of the most importance benefits currently being provided by the Department of Work and Pensions. What is Child Maintenance?

Child Maintenance is a payment made to help towards the living costs of a child for one parent to another (usually as a result of a separation), as long as they fit within certain rules outlined by the Department of Work and Pensions.

In order to be eligible to make a claim, your child has to be under the age of 16 – or be under 20 and still be in full-time college education (as long as you are still receiving child benefit for them). In addition to this, the parent claiming Child Maintenance has generally got to be responsible for the day-to-day care of the child.

Where is the Child Support Agency (CSA) based?

Though their specific locations sometimes change, the Child Support Agency has always had all of its offices based within the UK. Currently, they have contact operatives based out of buildings in Belfast, Hastings, Plymouth, Birkenhead, Falkirk, and Dudley.
