Supplying the South-East of England, Anglian Water is one of the UK’s main suppliers of water – though a large proportion of their business comes through dealing with drainage and sewer systems.
Through their Keep It Clear campaign, Anglian Water have attempted to increase public knowledge of sewer blockages in order to try and reduce their own workload. Initiatives have included providing sink strainers to customers free of charge and holding talks at key public events – Anglian have reported that blockages have dropped by around 80%.
Anglian Water have also been eager to limit the amount of their supplies lost through leakage – and boast of keeping their water output the same as it was in 1990 (1.2 billion litres per day) despite a 20% increase in population through these efforts.
In a 2013 survey, Anglian Water were ranked top for customer satisfaction by industry watchdog Ofwat – a sign of the company’s huge success, despite the fact that they are located in the driest region in Britain.
